Henry Makes Herself at Home

Henry has been with us a couple of weeks and is starting to make herself at home.  I knit her a cozy sweater and she has started to put up some posters and unpack her National Geographic collection.  I think my favourite think about collecting dolls is figuring out their personalities and making all their stuff.

A Quiet Day for Henry

  1. You do give your dolls such fun personalities and I agree, the making and collecting is my favorite part too. Can you tell us more about Henry's sweater?

    1. Thanks! Henry's personality is coming along bit by bit. Edie is a tough act to follow! The sweater is knit with Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace on 1.5mm and 1.75mm needles. It has an opening at the back that extends from the top of the turtleneck down to the level of the armpits. It was knit top down and the pocket was knit in as I went. I find the upper part of the sleeves a bit roomy, so I may try another version with fewer sleeve stitches. So many projects, so little time.

    2. Hi Kristin,
I love knitting for my dolls too Do you always knit from the top down?
Henry is an unusual name for a girl, is she going to have an unusual character? I think I'd like that. :)

    3. I do mostly knit from the top down. Knitting from the top makes it easier to adjust fit as I go for different sized dolls. I always wanted a name that had a boy nickname (like Sam(antha), George(ia) etc), so that is how I decided on Henry (short for Henrietta). I think she is a bit of a quirky character and I am enjoying getting to know her better! I just realized you have a blog so I'm going over to check it out!

    1. Thanks! That is high praise coming from you--the master of the scene set ups! I think there will be much more of Henry to come. I think she might be Jones's next door neighbour. :)
